And The "First Cause"... What caused that?

And on that topic, by the way, you may enjoy this: http://lifesscience.blogspot.com/2009/02/cause-and-effect.html

Ha! Ha! Perhaps I ought to take up fishing. I had a feeling that hook would soon get a nibble!

I followed the link, Andrew, and enjoyed your essay. I know not why but it reminded me of a joke I heard years ago about a man, he may have had to be Irish, reaching a fork in the road and taking it.
As for what caused the First Cause I am sure that the First Cause knows and I am sure that we will find out soon enough but I am in no particular hurry to do so.

I admire (or perhaps just gasp in astonishment) at the things you are "sure" of. I am sure of nothing. Good wishes for your blogging. I will be following, even if I don't always nibble at your bait. Thanks for your answer to my question on your first post (Oh... what caused your first post? Ha Ha). And I retract my dreadful accusation that you might be a Scot!

No need to retract, Andrew, I am what I am and do not believe, as some others do, that I had any choice in the matter. I am not fond of jingoistic labels, I am happy to be no more than just another citizen of the world.
I am sure of very little but of the First Cause I am sure. How else can I understand bodies of matter numberless and timeless distances away from here and the possibility of more beyond and beyond them....
As for what caused my first post, I have no doubt. However, although I know practically nothing of you, I think I have learnt enough about you to know that there is no point in my trying to explain why.

That's interesting, I wonder why?ann

To explain: I just realised that you had been trying (with success) to get Andrew's attention. Not mine. My comment had been intrusive, and not necessary. It's not the first time I delete a comment, on a blog, when I feel I've been speaking out of turn. I'll be more careful now not to butt in.

All the best to you, sir.

Surely, Claudia, one of the great joys of this blog thing is that we are all able to 'butt in'. On what is essentially an open forum I fail to understand how a comment can be intrusive. Do keep your comments coming; they inspire me.
