I began to write this blog exclusively to amuse myself. For much of my adult life I have been fascinated by words and their potential capacity to express ideas, to myself as much as to others, that float into my mind. I do not find this an easy process. To express an idea clearly and unambiguously is exceedingly difficult for me and rarely do I do so to my complete satisfaction. Sometimes thoughts lurk so deeply within my mind that I fail to find any words to express them.
When, over four months ago, I established and made my first post to 'Sensate Man', I had no idea of who, if anyone, might read it. That I should have other visitors, beyond the very few friends and close family to whom I had announced the inception of my blog, visitors who were strangers to me from around the world, was a pleasant panegyric surprise to me.
I enjoy reading fellow bloggers posts and comments, particularly those that are indirectly biographic, posts and comments between the lines of which something of the writer, their life and psyche, can be read. I enjoy reading both thought provoking and frivolous material; the light and the shade, the profound and the trivial. Others' blogs have become my inspiration to essay to write my own blogs with in these criteria.
I shall continue to write this blog for my own amusement although knowing now that others are reading my posts will, inevitably, have some effect; no one likes to be caught publicly picking their nose. I hope though that any restraint on my part will be balanced by less veiled expressions of my tenets.

To thine own self be true John and if it amuses you, do it. That it might serve as inspiration and enjoyment to others it a bonus.
I would find it interesting to know what readers of my blog desire and since I don't, I continue to do as I do. It is gratifying to know that others take an interest and too are entertained. Friends who you are likely to never meet are made...
You keep writing and I'll keep reading, and hopefully that won't put you off from "picking your nose" too much. The private thoughts are the more interesting ones I reckon (although I do agree that some do have to remain private, and it can be a tricky judgement sometimes).
Private thoughts, Andrew, may or may not be interesting but how can a second or a third party possibly know? Once expressed, or published, a private thought can no more be private any more than can a shared secret remain a secret.
The deleted comment was my own. It was similar to the following comment but I had made a typing mistake. As far as I understand the mechanics of blog and comment posting, comments can only be corrected by deleting them and replacing with a corrected version. If any of you more seasoned bloggers know better please do let me know.
True, but you can easily tidy things up by permanently deleting the deleted comment so that the "Comment deleted" entry will no longer be there.
