The return journey involved a drive of just 15 minutes downhill in light snow on a well-graded road (one we have cycled several times in winter), kept open by a snow plough, in a gas-guzzling 4-wheel-drive jeep. All this to celebrate a birthday you can’t remember, while the rest of Greece, hovering on bankruptcy, is gripped by 6 years of grinding austerity, with many unable to afford heating and Britain is under deep snow and ice, buffeted by 100-mile-an-hour winds. What do you want? Admiration, pity or contempt?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
